The physical condition of the newborn boy, who was thrown out of window of a fourth-floor flat in the capital on Monday, is till unchanged, said Professor Dr Monisha Banarji of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
She said: “The baby’s condition is unchanged. He has a fracture in his right leg and he also has injury in his head. We are trying our level best.”
The child specialist further said: “We are yet to feed the boy. But, regular medicines and saline are being delivered.”
Even though Beauty, the mother of the baby, is also receiving treatment at One Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of the DMCH, she is yet to meet the boy.
She is undergoing treatment for her pregnancy related complications, said Bilkis Begum, coordinator of the OCC. “Beauty’s physical condition is improving. She needs counselling. Once she is better we will provide her counseling.”
The boy came to the spotlight after he miraculously survived after being thrown out of the fourth floor by his own mother.
His mother Beauty who is a domestic help gave birth to the boy in her employer’s home.
As the baby was born out of wedlock, apparently, fearing the social stigma Beauty threw out the baby as soon as he was born.
Beauty claimed to police that the father of the baby is her brother-in-law.
The baby boy was rescued by police after some locals informed them about the baby boy.
