The Export-Import Bank of the United States want to provide funding to the US investors in Bangladesh development projects if the funds get proper protection.
“There are so much opportunities here in Bangladesh for investment. If the US companies invest in Bangladesh’s power, logistic, infrastructure and air transportation sectors, the Ex-Im Bank will finance,” Chairman and President of the bank Fred P Hochberg told journalists after a meeting with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in Dhaka yesterday.
He said: “I am here because it is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.”
Finance minister said the US bank along with other international investors were looking for making investment in Bangladesh. “There is nothing about the Ex-Im Bank’s official’s visit that we should be excited until the bank makes investment.”
Muhith said foreign investment would not come to Bangladesh unless there is local private investment. He said: “In Bangladesh investment opportunities are huge. But no body has taken the advantage.”
US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat and Ex-Im Bank Vice President for Global Business Development Raymond Ellis were also present.
