Two siblings have been killed as a train hit their motorcycle while crossing a railway crossing in Gandamara area of Laksam municipality in Comilla.
The two siblings are Mafizul Islam, 55, and Zahirul Islam, 35, sons of Basharat Ali of Undania village, Comilla Sadar Dakkhin upazila.
Mafizul was an expatriate and Zahirul was an employee of Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development, Comilla.
Railway Police sources said a Dhaka-bound Karnaphuli Express hit them while they were crossing Gandamara rail crossing around 11:30am on Tuesday, leaving them dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Later, the bodies were handed over to their family members.
Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Laksam Railway police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that the level grossing is illegal and that’s why there is no gate man there.
