Junior Tigers clinch victory over high flying Namibia

The Bangladesh Under-19 Team have won their last group game against Namibia by 8 wickets in Cox’s Bazar.

Bangladesh began their innings with fall of wicket. However, they managed to post 66 runs losing 2 wickets in 16 overs while chasing a 66-run target. Joyraz Sheik posted the highest score 34 while Shanto scored 14. Coetzee took 2 wickets.

The hosts won the match comfortably in a professional manner as Namibia have posted the lowest score in this tournament so far with 65 all out.

With Dawins and Louwrens scoring 2 digit scores, while the rest falling for single digit scores. Bangladesh has shown excellent skills with their spells restricting Namibia well and clinched their third victory in the tournament with Saleh Ahmed Shawon, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ariful Islam taking two wickets each.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first.

Winning both of their first two pool matches, Bangladesh and Namibia have already qualified for the knockout stages and are level on four points.

Bangladesh have won two games against South Africa by 43 runs and against Scotland by 114 runs.

They are in excellent form and have top players like Nazmul Hossain Shanto who has always been in top form in every match along with Saif Hassan, while Mohammad Saifuddin and Saleh Ahmed Shawon who are highest wicket takers for Bangladesh.

Namibia won their first match against Scotland well before 50 overs and with 9 wickets on hand and second match was jaw dropping victory with 2 wickets remaining and also well before 5o overs.

Lohan Louwrens and Chris Brits were stars for Namibia in their previous match, while Coetzee and Michael van Lingen emerged through spells in the game.

Bangladesh team, the Group A toppers, will take on Nepal while the runners-up will face India in the last eight.
