Finance Minister AMA Muhith has in principal agreed to extend job contract of three Deputy Governors (DGs) of Bangladesh Bank.
The minister yesterday came up with the hint of job extension of the central bank’s DGs while responding to a question of a journalist immediately after a meeting with the Bhutanese speaker held at the Secretariat office in the city.
The three DGs are- SK Sur Chowdhury, Abu Hena Mohd. Razee Hassan and Nazneen Sultana. The tenure of job contract of them has come an end on January 21 and currently they are not attending the office anymore.
“Yes, we will reappoint the DGs,” replied the minister as the journalists reminded him that central bank is now running without DGs.
In response to another query about the appoint of the new DGs, the minister said: “It is a long procedure to appoint the new DGs and it will take three months if we want to appoint new DGs.” He also opined that it is better for us to appoint DGs on contractual basis.
