Prisoner dies in Kashimpur jail

A convicted prisoner died at Kashimpur jail in Gazipur in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased Motiur Rahman, son of late Ali Asgar, was a resident of Siddik Bazar in the capital.

Subrata Kumar Bala, jail super of Kashimpur central jail 1, told the Dhaka Tribune that Motiur fell sick in the jail around 2am on Monday. He was firstly taken to jail hospital and later taken to Shahid Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.

On August 14, last year, a mobile court sentenced Motiur to 10-month imprisonment for illegal drug peddling. He was shifted to Kashimpur jail from Dhaka central jail on August 18.
