Parliamentary panel summons ACC again

The parliamentary standing committee on Finance Ministry asked the Anti-Corruption Commission to appear before it again to provide updates on its probe into the BASIC Bank loan scam after the corruption watchdog did not show up yesterday.

After the meeting, committee chief Abdur Razzak said they had evidence of involvement of BASIC Bank’s board of directors in the plundering of a huge sum of money. But the ACC gave them a clean chit.

“We will prepare a summary of the evidence and share with ACC. If they fail to turn up [in the next meeting], we will summon them again,” he said.
