Padma bridge gets another consultant

Cabinet committee on public purchase yesterday approved a proposal for appointing a management consultant of the Padma bridge at a cost of over Tk167 crore.

The bridge division sent a proposal for appointing an UK-based firm High-Point Rendal UK association as a management consultant of the bridge, the country’s largest infrastructure project.

After the committee meeting, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Maksudul Rahman told the reporters that the UK-based firm was appointed as a management consultant of Padma bridge project.

Australia-based firm SMEC International Private along with Belgium firm will conduct feasibility study of construction of Dhaka-Ashulia and East-West Elevated Expressway at a cost of over Tk16 crore, he added. 

The cabinet committee also approved appointing of a local consultant firm “Bangladesh Development Design Consultant” proposed by the railway ministry for construction of dual-gauge railway line between Dhaka and Narayanganj route.
