There are 395 industrial plots of 20 Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) estates available for allotment across the country, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said.
The allotment of the plots among potential entrepreneurs is underway through the district-level plot allotment committee, headed by Deputy Commissioner (DC), the minister told the parliament on Wednesday.
Responding to a question, Amu said no industrial estate, implemented under Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), remain abandoned now.
There are 74 industrial estates under BSCIC across the country, Amu said in replying to another query.
Of those, 24 industrial estates are in Dhaka division, 22 in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, 17 in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and 11 in Khulna and Barisal divisions, he said.
Some 5.50 lakh workers are working in the 74 estates, the minister said.
