Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has honoured 102 police officials with Bravery Padak in the Police Week-2016.
Inaugurating the four-day programme on Rajarbagh Police Lines ground on Tuesday morning, the PM handed over the crests to the police personnel for showing courage and confidence in the duty.
Addressing the event, PM Sheikh Hasina said a total of 738 cadres and 32,031 posts in the force have been created in her seven-year tenure.
Of those, recruitment of 277 cadres and 13,588 posts was completed and decision of creating 50,000 posts more in the force has already taken as well, she continued.
The PM said: “The police force has been playing a great role to maintain law and order. They are risking their lives to ensure security for the lives and belongings of the countrymen. The country's over all development would not be possible without having the law and order situation controlled.”
“The BNP-Jamaat alliance run destructive activities across the country when we are busy with the development tasks. They (BNP-Jamaat) attacked bus driver, passengers, police and BGB personnel with petrol bombs, killing 231 people and injuring 1,180 last year.”
“I thank police and law enforcement agencies for taking action against their illegal activities. A special unit has already formed to check the offences while another special unit for militancy combat is in pipeline,” the PM went on.
