US wants BD political parties to make their voices heard

US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat met Khaleda Zia yesterday evening, and urged all political parties to make their voices heard in a peaceful manner.

“I appreciated the opportunity to hear Khaleda Zia’s thoughts on the political situation in Bangladesh,” she said in a statement after the meeting.

The US envoy also said Bangladesh’s commitment to democracy has played an essential role in the country’s development. “I urge all political parties to make their voices heard in a peaceful manner.”

The two-hour meeting was held at the BNP chief’s Gulshan residence.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, BNP senior leader Abdul Moyeen Khan said the country’s latest situation, including politics, economics, law and order and democracy, came up for discussions at the meeting.
