Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed have been appointed as the new chief of Naval Staff.
The Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) issued a press release announcing the appointment yesterday.
Nizamuddin has also been promoted to the rank of vice admiral.
He will replace Admiral Muhammad Farid Habib and his appointment will take effect from January 27. He will be in the charge of the naval force until 2019.
Hailing from Madaripur, Nizamuddin joined Bangladesh Navy on January 30, 1979.
