CMCH cancels leave of physicians, staffs

Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) authority has cancelled all the physicians’ and staffs’ leave to tackle the patients’ rush at the hospital as the doctors have been continuing their indefinite strike, demanding withdrawn of two cases filed against three doctors over “negligence” in duties.

CMCH’s Principal Dr Selim Jahangir told the Dhaka Tribune that the rush of patients have been increased at the hospital following the indefinite strike enforced by the physicians at private clinics and hospitals.

Under the circumstances, the hospital authority has cancelled all the leaves of its doctors and staffs, he said.

“Moreover, additional steps have also been taken to the Operation Theater and emergency ward of the hospital to meet the patients’ demand” added Dr Jahangir.

Physicians in Chittagong under the banner of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) have been enforcing a sudden strike for indefinite period at all private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres from Wednesday demanding to withdraw two cases filed against three doctors on charges of their alleged negligence in their duties.
