Narayanganj 5-murder case accused Mahfuz has given statement before a district court confessing that he killed the five.
Narayaganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Saiduzzaman Sharif recorded the statement around 11am Thursday.
Detective Branch (DB) of Police SI, also the investigating officer of the case, Abul Khayer said: “Mahfuz gave confessional statement before the court under section 164.
He said: “He has given details about the murder.”
Police Saturday night recovered the bodies of five members of a family in a house in Baburail area of Narayanganj sadar upazila. The dead are Taslima, 35, her daughter Sumayia, 7, son Shanto, 10, brother Morshedul Islam, 20, and sister-in-law Lamia, 20.
Police claimed the murders might have been committed sometime between Friday night and yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, police have detained seven persons in this connection for interrogation.
They are Delwar, Sahadat, Mahfuz, Rasel, Nayan, Nazimul Islam and Saiful Islam.
