A fair of fairs

A fair is not just a place to buy or sell things; rather, it’s a place to meet people and learn about all things new and upcoming.

Banking on that, a local company is going to come up with a new concept - a fair of fairs.

The idea of having a fair of fairs is the brainchild of Naser Mohsin, director (Planning) of Third Eye Solution, a reputed advertising agency and event management company based in Bangladesh.

Mohsin, a serial entrepreneur said that the idea came to him after a few failed attempts.

“In 2009, I organised a costume party for the kids. It was a Harry Potter themed party, and not only the kids loved it but it was also appreciated by their parents.”

“I, however didn’t get what I wanted - a great turnout,” said Mohsin.

The director of Third Eye Solution said he faced the same problem while arranging a few other events.

“In Bangladesh, it’s hard to get a good turnout in particular events since it is costly to advertise and reach a greater number of people,” he said, adding that he had previously faced such situations and plans on fixing these issues in the future.

“That’s why I planned on organising something which is unique and will automatically have a great turnout. I named it Fair Fest.”

At the heart of the capital lies one of the biggest shopping malls - Bashundhara City. On a regular day, more than one lakh people visit the shopping mall and on weekends, the number may well be as much as two to three lakhs.

“I planned to rent out a space at this mall and establish some stalls for one year to offer a fair of fairs. It means that the stalls that we are going to establish will have different themed fairs throughout the year.”

“I approached the Bashundhara Shopping Mall authorities with my plan and they, after realising the business potential of my proposal, approved a 1,000 feet floor space on the ground floor,” he said.

On December 21, 2015, Third Eye Solution has signed an agreement with Bashundhara Shopping Mall.

“We have already laid out plans for arranging fairs throughout the year starting from February 2016 till January 2017. The first of the lot will be the Wedding Fest.”

Third Eye Solution partnered with two of the most reputed and famous wedding planning agencies - Wedding Story and Apurbo.com to organise the wedding themed fair. It will start on February 3 and will continue for the next two weeks.

“After that, we will plan to organise a tourism fair,” Mohsin said.

He added that the beauty of such an arrangement is the rented space and the 14 erected stalls inside, which could be used for multiple purposes through various types of partnership.

“We primarily plan to organise different themed fairs there including our planned ones like a mobile fair, beauty fair, education fair, bank fair, leasing company fair, real state fair, home fest, green world fair, small industries fair, computer and gadgets fair. However, any corporate company can rent the whole place for product launching and placements,” he said.

“We have already launched a massive marketing campaign through social media. Besides, our fair venue has easy accessibility for visitors and participants with no political disturbance, and high safety measures,” he said.

“I believe our attempt will be a major hit among the Dhaka crowd. This city is bursting with new happenings. We just tried to add new feathers on its crown,”  he concluded.
