Tk3.05 lakh for Hajj under private arrangement

Muslims planning to go on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia under private management will have to spend Tk304,903 this year, up from Tk296,206 in 2015.

Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (Haab) yesterday announced the Hajj package for 2016 at a press conference in the capital’s Nayapaltan after the cabinet approved the package on January 11.

The tentative date of this year’s Eid-ul-Azha is September 10 and a total of 113,868 pilgrims can perform Hajj. Last year, 101,758 people made the pilgrimage.  

Of the 113,868 pilgrims, 5,000 will go under government arrangement which will cost them Tk360,028, up from Tk354,745 last year.

The remaining 108,868 will travel under private management.

Online registration for Hajj under private arrangement will begin from January 17 and will continue till May 30, said Haab President Mohammad Ibrahim Bahar.

This year’s registration fee is yet to fixed but it was Tk30,000 last year.

Ibrahim said the Hajj agencies would have to register the pilgrims between January 17 and May 30. 

“Identity cards for the pilgrims will be given after the money is paid. The pilgrims will have to pay the entire amount by June 30. The deadline is strict and there will be no extension,” he said. 

He also advised pilgrims to collect their money receipts after depositing the money.
