Kyle Haywood, managing director & CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, has resigned from his post on health grounds on Sunday.
M Asaduzzaman, acting managing director & CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, told the Dhaka Tribune that Kyle has refused to keep his duty as CEO of Biman on health grounds.
Board of directors of the national flag carrier had earlier told him to continue his duty for the betterment of the organisation.
Defying the board's decision, he requested to the management in an email saying that he is not interested to continue his job.
Recently, board of directors of Biman extended his service for another one year.
On January 6, 2015, British citizen Kyle joined the company as CEO for one year contract. In February, Biman incurred a loss of Tk7.97 crore while losses stood at around Tk16.91 crore in June.
Following the appointment of Kyle Haywood, everyone expected that the national flag carrier will be able to make profit, overcoming losses.
Though Biman has totally brand new aircraft, the carrier continues to experience flight disruptions due to mismanagement.
