Road accidents kill four in Dhaka

At least four people have been killed in separate accidents in the city, police say.

Two of them have been identified as Saidul Islam, 22, and Faruk Hossain, 30.

Ramna police station's Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman said Saidul's body was recovered from the Minto road area around 5am on Friday.

The police station's OC Moshiur Rahman said Saidul had his family's phone number in his pocket.

His family said he worked as an assistant to a vegetable vendor.

Faruk was run over by a truck near Kadamtoli in the morning. He died minutes later, said Abul Hossain who took him to the hospital.

In a separate development, two unidentified men were killed in a collision between a truck and a mini truck at Tongi.

Turag police station OC Mahbub E Khuda said he believed the victims were drivers of the two vehicles.

But one of them was donning a traditional Muslim dress, which means he could have been on his way to attend the Biswa Ijtema at Tongi.
