Shehzar Doja’s ‘Drift’ hits the shelves

The book which marks the debut for the up and coming poet, titled Drift and printed by UPL Books and Monsoon Letters, first generated some hype at the Dhaka Lit Fest in November. The country is experiencing a literary revival by young Bangladeshis seeking a bigger platform online and on print, which Shehzar hopes will change the level of accessibility of art. “We need some form of art to self realise and self actualise in Bangladesh,” said Shehzar, adding that poetry was exactly that for him. Drift is edited by Sudeep Sen, the editorial director of Art Arks and the editor of Atlas Magazine. Monsoon Letters founder Rubana Huq, Kazi Anis Ahmed the publisher of Dhaka Tribune and eminent educationist Syed Manzurul Huq attended the event among others.
