FM goes to Saudi Arabia Tuesday

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali is going to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday on a three-day visit, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque has said.

He was speaking at a press conference on Global Forum on Migration and Development at the foreign ministry Monday.

The foreign secretary said Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubair invited him and all bilateral issues would be discussed.

Migration is an important issue and it would dominate the talk, he said.

Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Khandkar Iftikhar Haider Chowdhury at the same press conference said Saudi Arabia is expected to withdraw informal embargo on sending male workers in the kingdom country.

He said both the countries signed an agreement on Domestic Service Workers under which male and female could be sent.

At the initial stage, Saudi Arabia was interested to take only female domestic workers but now they showed interest to widen the scope.
