DMP: AL, BNP have to hold indoor rallies

The ruling Awami League and BNP will have to hold rallies inside their offices on January 5, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah has said.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police has said it will give permission to both the parties to hold rallies on condition.

The conditions include: the parties will not be allowed to block roads, they will have to hold rallies in specific time frame and they will not be allowed to create anarchy.

Paltan and Motijheel police stations will submit a report and the DMP will take final decision about giving permission for the rallies, said the DMP commissioner.

Earlier in the day, Dhaka South City Corporation gave permission to both Awami League and BNP to hold rallies in the capital on January 5.

The Awami League has got permission from DSCC to hold the rally in Bangabandhu Avenue while the BNP got permission to hold the rally in front of their party's Nayapaltan Headquarters.
