Gonojagoron Moncho brought out a torch procession in the city yesterday, rejecting the verdict in the blogger Ahmed Rajeeb Haider killing case.
The moncho activists started the procession from Shahbagh intersection around 5:45pm following a demonstration there.
Speaking at the demonstration, Imran H Sarkar said the killers of Rajeeb were not handed down due punishment.
He also said the verdict does not reflect the government’s decision to show zero tolerance to militancy. “Such verdict will encourage militants to continue their killing missions once they will be out from jail,” Imran said.
Earlier in the day, a speedy trial tribunal of Dhaka convicted seven people of killing blogger Ahmed Rajeeb Haider and sentenced two of them to death and one to life imprisonment.
On February 15, 2013, Ahmed Rajeeb Haidar, an activist of Gonojagoron Moncho, was stabbed to death near his house at Mirpur Palash Nagar in the capital.
