Robi launches first-of-its-kind A Cappella singing contest

The fans of celebrity singer Partha Barua will now get the opportunity to show their love and affection for the artist by taking part in an a cappella singing contest organised by one of the leading mobile phone operators, Robi. The contest, a first of its kind, is going to run for one month.

Details of the event came out at a press conference held at the Washington Hotel in the capital. Partho Barua, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, cheif operating officer of Robi and Faisal Mahmood, general manager of Robi, were present at the press conference.

A cappella music involves group or solo singing without instrumental support. Capturing the attention of the audience through singing using only vocal chords takes special skill. That’s why this form of singing has captivated audiences all over the world.

This unique contest allows the fans to record their songs that were originally sung by Partha Barua over his long illustrious career. Through an IVR (interactive voice response technology) based system, contestants can first listen to an a cappella version of the popular song Hajar Barsha Raat, sung by Barua and then record any of his song or any other Bangla song without the use of an instrument.

In order to subscribe to this service, one needs to dial 83655 and follow the call flow instructions or SMS START C1 and send to 83655. All Robi subscribers are allowed to take part in this a cappella song contest. Contestants can take part as a solo singer or as group singers.

Following the end of the contest, all the uploaded a cappella songs will be reviewed by Partha Barua. He will make the final decision on who becomes first, second and third. All the winners will get the opportunity to sing their a cappella song with the famous singer. They will also win an iPhone 6S+, 6S and 6 series handset respectively.
