Police have submitted charge sheet against suspended national cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmin Jahan Nitto in a case filed for torturing minor housemaid.
The lawsuit's Investigation Officer and also Mirpur Model police station SI Shafiqur Rahman submitted the charge sheet to General Recording Officer Md Jahangir Hossain of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court around 12 noon Tuesday.
GRO Shafiqur said: “The charge sheet will be produced before the court on January 12 for next course of action. A total of 12 people have been made prosecution witnesses.”
Earlier on September 6, journalist Khandkar Mozzamel Haque filed the case with Mirpur Model Police Station under Section 4 (2) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.
He found Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, the domestic help of Shahadat’s residence, lying injured on a road in Sangbadik Colony area of Pallabi in Dhaka the same day.
Happy told the journalist that cricketer Shahadat and his wife Nitto tortured her.
On September 21, domestic help Happy gave her statement before a Dhaka court on how she was subjected to physical abuse by the cricketer and his wife.

After the incident, on September 13, pacer Shahadat was temporally suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Police arrested Shahadat's wife at Pabna Lane in the capital’s Malibagh area on October 4 while the cricketer surrendered before a Dhaka court on October 5.
Later, both Shahadat and his wife walked out of jail on bail.
