Bangladesh Bank officials continue demo against national pay scale

Bangladesh Bank officials continued to stage demonstration for second day yesterday, protesting the national pay scale. 

The several hundreds of officers gathered at the premises of the central bank headquarters under the banner of Bangladesh Bank Officers Welfare Council at noon for staging demonstration.

The protesters alleged that they were discriminated in the pay scale.

 Siddiqur Rahman Molla, president of the officer’s organization, said “Our main demand is to upgrade them from 9th grade to 8th grade in the new pay scale.” 

Mohammad Shahriar Siddiq, general secretary of the organization, threatened that they would soon announce tougher program if their demand is not met.

“The grade of Assistant Directors of Bangladesh Bank was same with cadre service holders and university teachers.

But in the new pay scale the central bank officers have been discriminated by downgrading from eighth grade to ninth grade,” he added. 

All the officers wore black badge since Sunday as part of their agitation as well as sit-in programme.
