Dhaka stocks closed in red amid mixed performance

Dhaka stocks closed in red for the second consecutive session yesterday with mixed performance as investors remained in sideline to detect future direction.  

The benchmark index DSEX declined by 0.22% or 10.19 points closing at 4,592 points. The blue chip index DS30 lost 3 points ending at 1,744 points, while the shariah based index DSES shed 3 points fishing the session at 1,102 points. 

“Market closed with moderate loss yesterday amid mixed stock performance and it slipped away at the end of the day after testing the 4600 level throughout the session,” said LankaBangla Securities in its regular market commentary. 

Group of investors are following bottom-up approach in market, while some others were remained in sideline amid lack of market triggers, said the stockbroker.

Daily total turnover stood at over Tk413 crore which was 24.0% higher than previous session’s value.

Among the traded issues, 96 securities gained price and 172 declined, while 51 remained unchanged

Large cap sectors showed mixed performance yesterday. Food and Allied moved up by nearly 1% in the session and pharmaceuticals remained unchanged. 

Cement and NBFIs declined 0.82% and 0.81% respectively. Power lost 0.70% and telecommunication declined 0.34%. Banks saw a marginal correction of 0.17% in the session. 

 Beximco Pharmaceuticals, up by 1.7% was the most traded share today with a turnover worth T18.48 crore. It was followed by Qsmdrycell, Beximco, ACI, Ifad Autos, Squire Pharma, Emerald oil and KDS Accessories.

Apex Spinning was the highest gainer of the day, which gained by Tk9 or 8.42% to close at Tk117.20, while Sonargaon Textile was the worst loser shedding 9.35% value.
