No outdoor parties will be allowed in open space on the New Year's eve in order to maintain the law and order.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah made the statement while briefing media on Monday afternoon, about the security measures for 31st night.
He said: “There will be no outdoor parties. All the parties will have to be conducted indoor.”
Urging everyone to return home by 8pm, the DMP commissioner said: “If anyone want to party for the new year, they can do it at their homes, restaurants or in other places but it has to be an indoor celebration.
“No outdoor gatherings will be allowed.”
Meanwhile, Asaduzzaman said no gatherings will be allowed in Hatirjheel but the vehicular movement will be normal in the area.
On the other hand, check posts will be set up in different areas of the capital.
“For the safety of the residents in Gulshan, Banani and TSC area, police will only allow the inhabitants to enter there at night,” he said.
Besides, police will also conduct three-day long drives from Monday as a measure to prevent crimes related to narcotics consumption and bursting of crackers on December 31.
He said the restrictions will remain imposed on the inhabitants of the capital from 8pm Thursday to 5am Friday.
