BNP urges EC to hold fail municipal polls

BNP leaders have urged the Election Commission (EC) to ensure a congenial atmosphere in municipal election areas so that voters can exercise their franchise without any obstacle and intimidation.

BNP senior leader Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said this while talking to reporters after over an hour-long meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad and a five-member BNP delegation.

Moyeen Khan, a BNP standing committee member, led the BNP team at the meeting held on Sunday afternoon at the EC secretariat in the capital’s Agargaon.

The delegation team called upon the commission to hold a free and fair election for the greater interest of democracy of the country.

They have also placed a set of allegations including threat, obstruction and intimidation to BNP men by the ruling party men during polls campaigning.

Replying to query regarding army deployment, Moyeen said for holding the polls in free and fair way, army deployment is inevitable.
