Four people, including a state-run bank official, have been killed in a road accident in Darampur bridge area under Dkkhin Surma upazila of Sylhet.
The accident took place on Sylhet-Fenchuganj road early Sunday.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Drubo Joiyti Das, an official of Pubali Bank Charkhai branch, and Adil Chowdhury, from Kulaora of Maulvibazar.
Confirming the incident, Moghlabazar OC Khairul Fazal said a goods-laden truck desperately hit a Sylhet-bound private car from behind on the road around 12am.
On information, local fire fighting unit went to the spot and run rescue operation in the smashed car.
He said all of the deceased were car passengers. Two of them died on the spot while another died on the way to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH).
Later, another injured died at the hospital before dawn.
Police seized the killer truck, but its drive managed to run away the spot promptly after the accident.
When contacted, SOMCH's emergency Medical Officer Dr Habib confirmed the death figure as well.
