A complaint has been registered against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on charge of slandering the state through her controversial statement on the martyrs figure in the 1971 Liberation War.
Advocate Abdul Malek alias Moshiur Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court on Sunday morning.
After recording the statement of the plaintiff, Metropolitan Magistrate Md Atikur Rahman ordered Shahbagh police station officer-in-charge to launch an investigation and take necessary action in this regard.

The plaintiff in the complaint stated that Khaleda tried to distort the history of Bangladesh's origin with her statement on the martyrs.
On December 21, Khaleda expressed doubt about the number of people who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War in 1971, claiming the figure is disputed.
Besides, not mentioning the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Khaleda said he [Bangabandhu] did not want independence, rather wanted to be the prime minister of Pakistan.
