Some unidentified miscreants have hacked a BNP-blessed mayoral aspirant of Birampur Municipality in Dinajpur.
The crime took place at Ansar Math in Birampur upazila on Tuesday night. Injured Azadul Islam is also the present mayor of the municipality, reports UNB.
When asked, Birampur OC M Amiruzzaman said some hoodlums swooped on Azad while he was returning home after canvass around 11pm.
They hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured, the OC continued.
He got admitted to local health complex.
