30 shanties gutted in Mohammadpur

At least 30 shanties have been gutted in a fire that broke out at a slum near Dhaka Uddyan Housing in the capital's Mohammadpur.

The fire broke out at a shanty in the slum around 1:20am and soon engulfed the nearby makeshift houses, reports UNB.

On information, six fire fighting units went to the spot and doused the blaze around 3:35am.

Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Farid Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said the shanties were built illegally on the land of Water Development Board.

No causality was reported in the incident.
