Ex-minister Altaf's motorcade attacked in Patuakhali

The motorcade of former home minister and BNP leader Altaf Hossain Chowdhury came under attack by miscreants during municipality polls campaign.

At least 10 people, including Altaf's wife Suraiya Begum Chowdhury, have reportedly been injured in the incident.

The incident took place when Altaf was going to Rahmatpur to conduct campaign in favour of BNP-supported mayoral candidate Hazi Humayun Shikder around 10am Tuesday.

The attackers hurled brickbats and stones at his motorcade. They also snatched away the cameras of journalists at that time.

Kolapara police station OC Azizur Rahman said the attackers vandalised four microbuses.

District BNP's organising secretary Advocate Mojibor Rahman Toton alleged that Awami League-backed mayor candidate Bipul Haider's supporters made the attack.

However, city Awami League's vice president Md Masum Bepary denied the allegation against the ruling party supporters and said the attack was a result of BNP's internal clash.
