1 killed, 10 injured in Narayanganj clash

At least one person has been killed and more than 10 others injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League over establishing supremacy at Char Hogla village in Sonargaon of Narayanganj district.

The deceased is Jamaludin alias Zaman, 35, son of Abdul Khaleq of the village.

The clash that continued from 7am to 1pm Monday saw vandalism and looting into the houses from both sides.

Locals said there had been a longstanding feud between the group of local union parshad member Nasiruddin alias Nasir member and another local group of Imam Hussain over supremacy over many issues, including sand mining in Meghna river.

Both groups are said to be involved in the local Awami League politics.

Following a clash that occurred between the two groups few days ago, another clash ensued in the morning when both groups equipped with various weapons, including guns, shotguns, and other locally made one, swooped on one another that left 10 people injured.

The injured were taken Munshiganj Sadar Hospital where bullet-hit Jamaludin died around 3pm.

OC Manjur Kader of Sonargaon police confirmed the incident and said they have learned one person to be killed.

Additional police have been deployed in the spot, he also said.
