MPO teachers to get 8th pay scale salaries

The non-government Monthly Pay Order (MPO) listed teachers in the country will be able to draw salaries and get other benefits in line with the recently enacted Eighth National Pay Scale, according to a gazette notification by the Ministry of Education yesterday.

“MPO-listed teachers will get salaries and other facilities from the effective date of the Eighth National Pay Scale, which is on July 1, 2015,” said the gazette notification.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid also made the announcement at a press briefing at his office yesterday.

“Salaries of MPO-listed teachers was not mentioned in the 8th pay scale order. I spoke with the prime minister about the inclusion of the teachers and she gave her consent. They will get all facilities as per the Eighth National Pay Scale,” he said.

However, the minister did not specify how the teachers are going to get their arrears as per the new pay scale.
