PM to unveil Simanto Bank logo today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will unveil the logo of Simanto Bank, a bank for Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members, today during a visit to the BGB headquarters in the capital’s Pilkhana on occasion of Border Guard Bangladesh Day.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman will be present at the programme, and is expected to hand over the letter of intent to BGB Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed.

The BGB director general will hoist the national flag at 7am at the force’s headquarters.

The prime minister will take salute from the paramilitary force at its parade ground at 9am.

She will award 60 BGB members with medals for their courage in the service.

Later, she will inaugurate three 50-bed hospitals in Chuadanga, Thakurgaon and Khagrachhari.

The premier will also hold a meeting at the Fazlur Rahman Bir Uttam auditorium in Pilkhana.

In 2010, Bangladesh Rifles was renamed Border Guard Bangladesh in the wake of the 2009 bloody revolt at Pilkhana. 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in the revolt.
