President Abdul Hamid has hosted a grand reception at Bangabhaban marking the country's 45th Victory Day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, freedom fighters, politicians, civil and military officials, diplomats and professionals joined the reception, reports BSS.
The president and the prime minister cut a cake on the occasion.
President Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exchanged greetings with the injured freedom fighters and other guests.
Valiant freedom fighters and family members of Birshreshtha gallantry award recipients also attended the reception.
Moreover, members of National Cadet Corps of Sri Lanka, India and the Maldives joined the event.
During the reception, renowned artistes Rafiqul Alam, Fakir Alamgir, Shakila Zafar, Selina Akhter and Kishore Das presented patriotic songs.
Speaker of parliament, chief justice, prime minister's special envoy and former president HM Ershad, cabinet members, advisers to the prime minister, diplomats, state ministers, senior lawyers, Supreme Court judges, election commissioners, chiefs of three services, members of parliament, senior political leaders, senior civil and military officers, academics, business community leaders, senior journalists, artistes and distinguished citizens also joined the gathering.
