The High Court yesterday ordered the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) chairman to make a list of all illegal structures built at roadside car parking areas in the capital.
The HC bench of Justice Zinat Ara and Justice AKM Shahidul Huq asked to submit the list before it within two months, being moved by a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh.
The court also issued a rule upon the government and Rajuk to explain in four weeks as to why they should not be directed to remove the illegal structures.
The Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed the writ petition on Monday saying the illegal structures including shops build on car parking areas around the city cause traffic congestion, said lawyer Manzill Murshid.
He said Rajuk yesterday submitted to the High Court a list of 208 unauthorised structures at Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara which they prepared during the last caretaker government period.
