Expressing their disappointment over the arrest of Refayat Ahmed, 35, the alleged admin of Moja losss?, the city people have recalled the popular Facebook page's contribution in arresting and identifying culprits.
A college student, asking not to be named, said Moja losss? had been doing a great job as activists. They touched the topics that should have been addressed by the government or the authorities concerned.
Mirza Mahmudur Rahman, a private service holder, said: “It has established a new form of journalism. Recently, they campaigned for the arrest of a school boy who had fled the scene with an SUV after injuring several people in Gulshan.”
Earlier in April this year, the page identified miscreants, who were involved in the attacks on women at TSC during Pohela Boishakh celebration, via screenshots from the TV footages released.
It also played a vital role in arresting the culprits of hit-and-run cases and incidents of many other sexual harassments.
Some young people also recalled its jokes and commentaries on social issues that often worked as crime busters by circulating photos of crime scenes and suspects.
Wishing not to be named, another fan of the fun page, said: “Everyone who has ever enjoyed Moja Loss? and their fantastic humour should stand in support with Refayet.”
On Facebook, some people also created events demanding his release while many others prayed for his quick release.
On contrary, many youths welcomed the arrest accusing the admin of the page of siding with the anti-government parties and groups.
The page, better known for satirical contents and social campaigns having around 7,00,000 subscribers, did not post any update after Wednesday night.
