3 international human traffickers held in Dhaka

Officials of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have detained three members of an international human trafficking group from different areas in Dhaka.

The detainees are Al Azad, Foroz and Krishno Gopal Dey.

IS finance chief killed in air strikes

The finance chief of so-called Islamic State has been killed in air strikes by the US-led coalition, a US military spokesman has said.

Muwaffaq Mustafa Mohammed al-Karmoush, aka Abu Salah, and two other senior leaders were killed in the strikes which took place in "recent weeks".

Netanyahu's dog bites visitors

A dog recently adopted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Kaiya, bit two visitors, one a lawmaker, during a religious event.

The incident happened during a candle-lighting ceremony to mark the Jewish festival of Hannukah at Mr Netanyahu's residence.

Bangladesh wins int'l award for school banking

Bangladesh has won the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) Country Award 2015 from Asia and the Pacific region for massive financial inclusion activities, particularly in the area of Bangladesh Bank's mooted school banking.

Launched in 2010 by the central bank, school banking has emerged as one of the core components of the financial inclusion programmes in Bangladesh.

Wal-Mart marketing head to retire

Wal-Mart Stores Inc's <WMT.N> marketing head, Stephen Quinn, will retire in January, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

At the same time, Wal-Mart announced it will hire former Target Corp <TGT.N> marketing chief, Michael Francis, as a consultant starting January 1, 2016.
