Anupam Roy ties the knot

An announcement was made a few month ago, when Anupam Roy, singer, composer and lyricist, made a statement expressing his desire to “hold his lover’s hand.” On Sunday evening, Roy tied the knot with Pia Chakravarty, his long term girlfriend.

The wedding was informally organised in Kolkata, where family members of the bride and groom were present.

Anupam Roy’s wife is currently pursuing her PhD in Anthropology at the Shiv Nadar University. The couple first met in college, developing a friendship that soon turned into a romantic relationship. Meanwhile, studying Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Roy worked harder on his film Autograph. The film’s track Amake amar moto thakte dao made him famous both in Kolkata and Bangladesh.

Subsequently, Roy made his music directorial debut in the Bengali movie Cholo Paltai. Several songs from the film, including Barie dao, became popular.

Apart from making music for films, Roy has three solo albums to his name: Durbine Chokh Rakhbona, Dwitiyo Purush and Bakyobageesh. The latter was also released in Bangladesh.
