Deputy high commission office also in Guahati

Another deputy high commission office would be opened in Guahati of Assam very soon, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has said.

The government will open the office at Guahati of Assam in India, he made the disclosure while speaking at the 44th anniversary programme on Indian recognition to Bangladesh at WVA auditorium at Dhanmondi in the capital on Sunday.

The foreign minister said assistant high commission of Bangladesh in Tripura started working from Sunday.

Foreign service officer Shakhawat Hossain assumed the responsibility of assistant high commissioner.

Tripura is the fourth Bangladesh mission in India after New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

The minister said Tripura, Assam and other adjacent Indian states are very important for BBIN initiative.

Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal road network will become functional from January next year and under the initiative, cargo, passenger and private cars would ply from one country to another.

In the programme, acting president of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Montasir Mamun, vice president of the committee Shaymoly Nasrin Chowdhury, presdient of Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minority Ajoy Roy and others spoke.
