Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said the gazette doubling the allowance for the families of freedom fighters will be issued soon.
The minister made the statement while addressing a reception ceremony for the police freedom fighters at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday afternoon.
"The files of the freedom fighters' families have already been signed. The gazette will be published soon," said the minister.
In the programme, police freedom fighters and their families alleged that police role in the Liberation War was not portrayed properly in Bangladesh's history.
They also alleged that police fighters were neglected in the state award for their sacrifice in 1971 Liberation War.
"A committee was formed to make the list of martyred and freedom fighters after the war. Those who filled the form were enlisted. None was left out from the list intentionally," said Mozammel Haque.
Freedom fighter and first IGP of Bangladesh Abdul Khalek's wife Selina Khalek demanded that her husband's grave to be made permanent.
