A Narayanganj court has awarded death penalty to four persons for killing schoolboy Rakibul Hasan Emon last year.
Narayanganj Additional District and Session Judge Miazee Mohammad Shahidul Islam pronounced the verdict on Monday.
The convicts are Saifur Rahman alias Saiful, 23, Tofazzol Hossain, 22, Jamal Hossain, 22, and Shahjahan alias Jibon, 21.
The court also sentenced the convicts to seven years of imprisonment on charge of abduction and fined Tk50,000 each.
Narayanganj court's Additional Public Prosecutor MA Rahim said ninth grader Emon, 13, was abducted on January 29, 2014.
Being refused to get Tk10 lakh ransom, the abductors killed Emon and buried him under a poultry farm.
Emon's mother Ferdousy Begum filed a case against five in this connection.
Later, police recovered Emon's body following the information given by the convicts.
