A Dhaka court has framed charges against two sub-inspectors and a police informer in a case filed over the murder of carpenter Faroque in the capital's Kafrul area about four years ago.
Dhaka Special Court 5 Judge Dr Md Aktaruzzaman made the charge framing order on Sunday afternoon.
The indicted accused are Md Nuruzzaman and Rezaul Karim Patuari, former sub-inspectors of Kafrul police station, and local police source Md Babu alias Ratan Babu
Besides, the court sent the trio to jail rejecting their fresh bail plea in the lawsuit that was shifted there from a chief metropolitan magistrate court.
When asked, complainant's lawyer Abu Tayeb confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune and said earlier the three accused secured bail from the High Court and then from a CMM court.
Currently, SI Nuruzzaman is serving at Dhaka Metropolitan Police while SI Rezaul Karim Patuari is with Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
The court fixed January 19 next year for the hearing of the case.
According to case statement, Nuruzzaman, Rezaul and Babu on February 19, 2012 arrested carpenter Faroque Hossain Kamal illegally and they demanded a ransom of Tk50,000 from his family to buy his freedom. Even, they threatened Faroque with implicating him with false cases unless their demand was met.
On February 21, Kafrul police placed him before court showing a suspect in a murder case and they sought remand. Later, the court rejected the remand plea as it found many injury marks in Faroque's body.
On February 28, Faroque succumbed to his injuries in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The victim's younger brother on April 18 registered a case with a CMM court.
On March 1 this year, CID Inspector Md Mazharul Hoque submitted the charge sheet to the court making the trio accused.
