A man has been killed and two others injured as a timber-laden trawler capsized Laukadi river in Sadar upazila.
The deceased was Jamal, of Shutabaria village in Golachipa upazila.
Two injured-- Miraj Mridha and Faku-- said they reached the merging point of Laukadi and another rivers on Friday night by their trawler which was fully loaded with timber and dropped anchor there as there was dense fog on the river.
However, a passenger carrying launch named MV Eagle-3 hit the trawler around 4:30am while the trio was sleeping.
As a result, the trawler broke apart into several pieces and capsized in the river with Jamal, Miraj and Faku.
Miraj and Faku managed to swim ashore but Jamal went missing.
Later, locals recovered his body from the river around 7:30am Saturday.
On information, police visited the spot and sent the body to hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Patuakhali Sadar police station.
