Japanese woman's body exhumed for autopsy

The body of Japanese citizen Hiroye Miyata has been exhumed for autopsy.

A team led by Dhaka District Executive Magistrate exhumed the body in presence of Uttara (East) police station Inspector Abu Bakkar Mia from the graveyard at Uttara sector 12 early Friday.

Graveyard official Monirul Islam said: “Hiroye's body was exhumed around 6am and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.”

After the autopsy, DMCH Forensic Department Assistant Prof Sohel Mahmud said: “The body was fully decomposed, so we could not understand if there was any injury marks on the body.”

He told the Dhaka Tribune that nails and teeth have been collected from the body for DNA test.

They have collection necessary samples form her body to find out if she was raped before the body, he added.
