50 injured in Habiganj clash over land

At least 50 people including some women have been injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Habiganj Sadar upazila on Thursday.

Of the injured, 20 got admitted to Sadar Hospital in a critical condition. The rest 30 injured were released after giving primary treatment, according to patients’ admission registrar book of the hospital.

Police and local sources said one Lutfur Rahman, from Uchail village in the upazila, and the same village's Taju Uddin Miah had long been loggerheads over a piece of land.

As sequel to the incident on Thursdaay morning, people from both groups equipped with lethal weapons locked in clash with one another, leaving 50 people wounded.

Being informed police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

When contacted, Habiganj Sadar model police station OC Nazim Uddin confirmed the clash incident.
