Dhaka feels it is very less likely that there would be any foreign secretary-level talks between Bangladesh and Pakistan in January.
“We proposed to hold foreign office consultation with Pakistan in January next year but given the situation, it is very less likely that it would happen,” said an official of the foreign ministry.
The last foreign office consultation between the countries was held in 2010 in Islamabad. “The recent statement on war criminals issued by the Pakistan Foreign Ministry made it more difficult to engage with Islamabad,” the official said.
The Pakistan government after the execution of war criminals Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Muzahid through a statement termed the trial process “faulty” and expressed their concern.
