Mohona TV journalist shot in Raozan

A journalist of private television channel Mohona TV has received bullet wound as miscreants opened fire targeting their vehicle in Chittagong's Raozan area.

The injured is Rajib Sen Prince. He has been taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Mohona TV's Cameraman Assaduzaman Limon, who was present in the vehicle, confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “Some youths asked us to stop our vehicle around 11am Sunday, while we were returning after covering the burial of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

“They hit the glass of the car with batons in an attempt to vandalise the vehicle as driver did not stop it. Later, they fired gunshot targeting our vehicle.”

The cameraman said five people were in the vehicle.

After visiting the spot, district Police Super AKM Hafiz Akhter said: “The incident took place at Gohinbazar while the journalists were returning from Salauddin's burial ceremony. We did not have police deployed on the spot where the incident took place.”

The police super said: “We have noticed bullet marks on the vehicle. We are investigating into the matter.”

However, the cameraman, claimed that local Chhatra League members had attacked them.

Earlier in the day, Salauddin was hanged around 12:55am for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

Later, he was buried in their family graveyard around 9:28am after a namaz-e-janaza.
